Canada hits back against Trump tariffs. As has been widely reported, Canada is responding to President Trump’s tariffs by announcing its own package of 25% retaliatory tariffs. Effective February 4, 2025, Canada will target approximately $30 billion in goods of U.S. origin and plans to follow with tariffs on an additional $125 billion of U.S. goods in three weeks if the escalating dispute is not resolved. List of products from the United States subject to 25 per cent tariffs effective February 4, 2025. The first list targets a wide range of food and beverages (including beer and wine and spirits), personal care products like soap and shampoo and shaving cream, flooring, tires, hand bags, a wide range of apparel products, carpets, wood products, various paper products and packaging, footwear, hats, glassware, jewelry, appliances, tools, motorcycles, firearms, furniture, lighting and more.
